Picture Perfect Locations At This Sussex Wedding Venue

There’s no doubt about it – your wedding photos are some of the most precious images that you’ll ever have. Once your dress is packed away, once the cake has been eaten and once all your wedding cards have been taken down, your wedding photos will always be with you. Upwaltham Barns is a picture-perfect Sussex wedding venue and if you’re planning your wedding with us, we can provide you with endless backdrops for perfect pictures. Here’s your photography location checklist.

The preparation and ceremony

The best wedding photos tell the whole story of your day, from the moment you start to prepare for your wedding ceremony until the dancefloor is packed with friends and family. Bridal preparation photos are always lovely as they capture the excitement, nerves and emotion of the day and Jasmine Cottage provides you with a wonderful backdrop for these shots. It’s light, spacious and beautifully furnished with a bespoke shabby chic decor and is perfect for all those ‘getting ready’ photos that record those moments when you become a bride.

The East Barn is the perfect setting for your ceremony and it looks absolutely stunning in your wedding photos. The floor-to-ceiling windows let light flood in and give gorgeous views over the South Downs. The barn also gives you lots of opportunities to decorate so that your photos capture the spirit of your day – floral garlands above the doors, flowers lining the aisle and fabulous arrangements on the registrar’s table all look amazing. Your photographer will also love the fact that the barn is so spacious – this gives them room to move around during your ceremony so they’ll capture all the important moments without getting in anyone’s way!

Your wedding reception

With the ceremony concluded, your celebrations will start from the moment that you step out into the courtyard. Let your guests line the steps outside the East Barn so that they can shower you with confetti as you emerge as newlyweds and then enjoy your drinks reception with your friends and family in our pretty courtyard. This is a great time for those candid shots that capture your guests enjoying your day.

The South Barn is a dream location for your wedding reception and the traditional brickwork, beams and chandeliers look fantastic in the background of all your photos. Make sure your photographer captures your decorations, details and food as these are the elements you probably spent the most time on when planning your big day.

As Upwaltham Barns is an exclusive-use venue, you can explore and make use of the gardens until your hearts content. Our cottage gardens with Moroccan-style snug really lend themselves to photos, whether they are intimate shots of you with your partner or small group shots. Your photographer will be able to come up with lots of creative ideas that you’re sure to love.

Out and about

On the day, make sure you take a little time out and escape into the beautiful countryside that surrounds Upwaltham Barns. For your couple’s photos, the fields around Upwaltham Barns are absolutely perfect and, for the ultimate in romantic wedding photos, stepping beyond the barns during ‘golden hour’ is a great idea.
