Our family / team

Upwaltham Barns is often referred to as ‘family owned and run’, meaning that family is at the heart of our venue. If you come to visit us, you’ll probably bump into one or more of the below family members;

Sue & Roger (known by most as Nanny & Grampa) who will often be found in the gardens.

Nicola who runs the venue alongside her eldest daughter Jasmine.

Kate who runs Nibbles2Nosh from the courtyard office, alongside her nephew Simon who leads our chefs and kitchen team.

Stephen and his daughter Isobel who run the Stable Bar.

As well as tapping into the expertise of these family members, we have surrounded ourselves with a small but enthusiastic team of friendly and hard-working professionals, who are central to the success of our wedding venue.

We pride ourselves in offering a warm, friendly welcome to our couples, helping them feel like they’re part of our Upwaltham Barns family.

A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY

1987

Sue & Roger start the renovation project of the farmhouse and in 1988 move to Upwaltham House Farm.

1988

Tim & Nicola held their wedding reception in the East Barn. The barns looked very different to how they do today.

2000

Tim & Nicola moved into the self-renovated Granary and the renovation of the barns begins.

2001

Upwaltham Barns’ first wedding reception is held in 2001.

2002

Upwaltham Barns were granted a licence to hold Civil Ceremonies in the East Barn.

2004

Stephen became the licensee for the Stable bar.

2012

Nibbles2Nosh run by Kate & Claire became the dedicated caterers to Upwaltham Barns.

2020

The Stable Bar receives a little update with a beautiful glass wall being installed.

2021

Upwaltham Barns celebrates its 20th Anniversary with the next generation of family members joining the growing team and taking on new roles within the business.

2026

The Orchard Room, a beautiful, dedicated prep space is opened as part of the Venue’s 25th Anniversary celebrations.

Venue Team

Upwaltham Barns was founded by husband-and-wife team, Tim and Nicola, whose vision and unwavering attention to detail shaped the venue into what it is today: beautifully unique, family-focused and welcoming.
Today, the venue is run by Nicola alongside their eldest daughter Jasmine, who joined the team in 2021 and brings a wealth of enthusiasm and organisation to the office. Family friend Sam supports the team by managing the social media channels, helping share the story of Upwaltham Barns.

Nibbles2Nosh Team

This is a small but mighty team! With over 30 years of experience between them, Kate works alongside her nephew, Simon, our Head Chef, supported by a fantastic team of event catering coordinators and chefs. Together they ensure your guests are well looked after and beautifully fed throughout your wedding day.

Catering

Nibbles2Nosh recently catered for our wedding and the food was absolutely outstanding!! The guests are still talking about it and many including my husband and I have said it’s the best food they’ve ever had at a wedding – incredible!! Thank you

I am coeliac and Nibbles2Nosh worked with me to have a fully gluten-free day. All my guests have commented on how amazing and delicious the food was, they didn’t even realise it was all gluten-free it was that yummy!

Father-daughter duo Stephen & Isobel have the enjoyable task of keeping your guests’ glasses topped up throughout your wedding day! With a huge wealth of experience as well as a passion and understanding of all things drink related, your day is in safe hands.

Grounds Team

The flower-filled gardens wouldn’t look this beautiful without the love and care of our wonderful garden and grounds team. Headed up by Nanny, the team ensure the gardens look their absolute best for your wedding day. Grampa’s labour of love, the cutting garden, provides fragrant beautiful blooms throughout the spring and summer months.
