Charlotte and Dom’s wedding at Upwaltham Barns was a very special day, particularly as Charlotte is one of Nibbles2Nosh’s brilliant wedding coordinators! This gorgeous early autumn wedding was a wonderfully elegant and enjoyable occasion for everyone involved.
Finding ‘the one’
Given Charlotte’s intimate knowledge of Upwaltham Barns, choosing the venue was the easiest part of planning their big day.
“The first step in our planning was indeed the venue! We couldn’t have chosen anywhere else. I’ve worked on so many weddings at Upwaltham Barns and it meant that it would feel like home to be married here ourselves.”
Styling Upwaltham Barns
Dom also works in the wedding industry so the couple started planning with a collection of ideas that they’d both seen over the years, so all their inspiration came from things that they’ve seen, and loved, at various weddings. They very much wanted a simple, elegant wedding and they absolutely got their wish.
“Our theme was white and green with lots of foliage throughout the day along with large white hydrangeas by Rose Cottage Flowers. We also added green water glasses to the tables from Crystal Hire along with festoon lighting with white lanterns from To Have & To Hire and added our own homemade DJ booth.”
Music was an integral part of the style of the day as both Charlotte and Dom wanted their favourite tunes to fill their wedding.
“We loved the feel of a barn wedding and filled the day with music from all the artists we’ve met over the years. We flew in a DJ from Barcelona, as he has played at friends’ weddings and parties, so we had to have him at ours!”
Dressing for the occasion
When Charlotte went dress shopping at Proposals in Chichester, she fell in love immediately:
“The dress was an instant yes! I tried this on by myself to begin with as I was only meant to be window shopping but, as soon as I saw it, I knew!”
Charlotte teamed her gown with a stunning hair vine, also from Proposals, and simple court shoes that suited her dress perfectly. On the day she also received a gift from Dom – diamond earrings made by the designer who had also made the couple’s wedding rings and Charlotte’s engagement ring.
Dom also looked super stylish on the day:
“Dom’s suit was a beautiful dark blue tailored Reiss three-piece. He wore it with a fun Liberty print tie and pocket square that matched with the best man.”
The wedding day
Charlotte and Dom held their ceremony at Upwaltham Barns and their personal ceremony in the East Barn was such a highlight. Charlotte was accompanied to the ceremony by her dad and lots of family and friends took part throughout. It was altogether beautiful and everyone at Upwaltham Barns will remember this ceremony for a long time.
As you might expect, given Charlotte’s role with our catering Nibbles2Nosh, the couple’s food was a delicious, and very much enjoyed, centrepiece of the day.
“Working for Nibbles2Nosh meant that I was spoilt for choice when it came to choosing food for our day. We had lots of yummy canapes followed by roast chicken with all the trimmings and warm chocolate brownies and ice cream for pudding. We had a cake of cheese that Nibbles2Nosh created as a cheese table with the evening food plus pizza/waffle/hot drinks from street food masters Truly Scrumptious.”
When the time came for the couple’s evening reception, the dancefloor was packed from the outset. Charlotte and Dom strutted their stuff to ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’ for their first dance and then DJ Joel Jagger kept the party going in the South Barn all night long.
Wedding tips & advice
“If we could do it all again, I wouldn’t change a thing! My top wedding planning tip, however, would be to book everyone as soon as you can to avoid missing out on suppliers.”
